Post Test
Last week we had a test with driver Daniel Erickson from Australia.
He showed up Monday to be fitted to the car and meet everyone. It was the first time I have ever met an Austrailan and I expected his accent to be stronger. He has however, spent most of the last year in the UK racing the MSA Formula Ford Championship and I think that watered down his accent a little.
Tuesday turned out to be very dissapointing because it rained almost all day. Wednesday cleared up but the wind made it miserable for the crew to be out on track. Luckily, when we are at the shop I don’t need to be out on track watching the whole time. When I am not out taking pictures, I listen in on the radio in the office in case they need anything.
That evening we grilled out at the shop. It was a little cold for grilling, but we wanted to give Daniel a taste of TX with steak, potatoes, and jalapenos all off the grill. Eric introduced us to bacon wrapped jalapenos filled with cream cheese a year or two ago and now we can’t grill with out making them. They are awesome, but watch out because you can’t ever tell which ones are hot and which ones are mild.
Thursday the weather was actually really nice to our surprise. The wind had died down and the temp was up a few degrees. Of course the day Daniel was flying out had to be the nicest day of the week. He did get 2 good sessions in that morning and we gave him barely enough time to get to the airport after he got off track. Hopefully he made it home without to many difficulties.
Friday rounded out the week with snow. I heard they were predicting snow for that evening, but it was snowing by around 9am. We had light fluries or sleet off an on all day. We called it a day early and sent everyone home for the weekend before the roads got icy and the traffic got unbearable. Once home I didn’t even chance to look out the window again until the next morning. Now the snow is gone but I expect the cold is here to stay.
